A town in the south of Bohemia, which retains its rare medieval urbanite composition, with its extensive reserve of Gothic and Renaissance buildings, hardly touched by the disruption of modern civilization. In the Middle Ages, the family seat of the most powerful Czech nobles - the Rosenbergs. Lords of the Rose built an extraordinary dominant of this picturesque town, the Gothic - Renaissance castle, of which the oldest section dates back to the mid-13th century. Second only to Prague castle size. Numerous monuments and sights are worthy seeing e.g., the Church of the Body of Christ and Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, the Church of St. Vitus, Town hall, Former Latin school, Plague column and many others. In addition, visitors may see gallery known as ″Egon Schiele Art Centrum″, which offers mainly classic 20th century art.
