Terezin
A town was founded by the Habsburgh Emperor Joseph II. Within 11 years there had been erected the most elaborated fortress of the 18th century. The infamous Small Fortress unfortunately became a tragic chapter in European history of the World War II., where in 1940 the Prague Gestapo established a police prison. In 1947 there was established a Memorial of National Suffering in the Small Fortress.
